There are many industries that are suffering and closing shop. How has the state of the economy affected your child care services, if at all? Have you noticed a drop in enrolled students? Let's discuss.
I have noticed a drop in enrolled children. I have had children since my summer kids went back to school. Its killing me bcuz I love to stay home with my son. But the way business is I have to find another job until January thats when my 3 waiting list children enroll.
I started watching children in June. The 1 child I had only stayed for 3 days, then the mom moved without even telling me. Since then I haven't had anyone. Think it's time to close shop and look for another job.
I actually charge by the day with a weekly minimum, and I've noticed the parents who brought their children 5 days are now finding ways to bring them only 3 days so they can pay a little less. I feel like we are in a good business though, because there will always be children who need cared for. Our job can't go out of the country as many other American jobs have.
I have noticed here in Michigan-where its really bad- home providers and even other large centers are seeing a decline in new enrollments...I can't seem to find new children anywhere as I need one to two more full time. This is something common around here with so many layoffs and job losses. I hope it turns around soon!
Yes, I have noticed a change in my childcare business. I have 2 children enrolled in my learning center right now. I have
one that will start on Monday, Oct 20th, 2008. It has been a slow process. I am hoping to fill 2 additional spots;
besides the 2 that I currently have and the 1 that will be starting. I know that God is in control; and I have hope.
I'm affraid that the economy has taken a toll on my business. I am normally full, but have not been for a couple months now. I have a previous client moving back in a week or two and will be taking in their little one. I was out of town for a few days and was happy to get back and have a couple inquiries about my childcare that I am calling back on today. I sure hope that the economy picks up soon, because it's difficult being down kids.
