The Childcare and Daycare Centers Network

Is anyone else having trouble getting kids? I've tried to advertise at local grocery stores,Laundromats, Craigslist and the local 4c's mlive and i just put an ad in the advance newspaper (which is a paper that comes out once a week)none of these are working.I've even lowered my rates thinking my rates were to high, also does anybody have an ad that they use and willing to share with me.Thanks

A couple of ideas: contact any large employers in your area and ask to post your flyer on their lunch room bulletin board (or have a friend who works there do it for you). Also you could ask to speak to their Human Resources dept and let them know you have spots, in case they have employees who need child care. Also, make sure you're known by the elementary school office ladies - take them donuts or whatever you need to do to get in their good graces and they'll pass your name along. Also, get in good with all the real estate agents, rental property managers, and hairdressers in town. Hope that helps! For more tips and free e-newsletters, click here:

I have been having trouble finding daycare kids too. At first I thought that maybe I should lower my rates, but I opted out on that idea. As daycare providers we can not lower our standards of caring for kids and to me lowering your wages is not good for you, you need the income as you are a Small business owner. Believe me I have lowered my wages in the past and I got taken advantage of where I either lost families or I lost hundreds of dollars in trusting people to pay. Did you know that Having a Daycare is one of the top stressful jobs in America? I kid you not. You are a person who should be looked up to. We watch other peoples children all day and I know we don't get the respect we need as Professional Daycare Providers that we should. Don't you agree?

I am now taking part time kids instead of having empty spots but when i can i will be replacing the part time kids with full time kids.I have been getting alot of calls with interviews this week.

I am having the same problem. It seems like everyone wants part time or drop ins. I am really trying to fill full time, but wondering if I need to take part time rather than have that spot empty. Do you have full time and part time spots?
